Notice of 2024 Combined Assessment Roll and Tax Notices

Notice is hereby given that the combined assessment and property tax notices of the County of Vermilion River (CVR), under the provisions of the Municipal Government Act (M.G.A.), Chapter M-26, 2000 were mailed on June 13, 2024

 REVIEWING YOUR ASSESSMENT: Upon reviewing the combined assessment and tax notice, property owners are encouraged to carefully review the information provided. If a property owner finds discrepancies or is not satisfied with the assessment information prepared by the assessor, they have the option to file a complaint on following matters as per Section 460 of the M.G.A:

  • a property or business description
  • the name or mailing address
  • an assessment class, sub-class or assessment amount
  • type or improvement of the property
  • school support
  • whether the property is assessable or exempt from taxation under Part 10 or S. 364.1

Property tax rates are established by tax rate bylaw and cannot be appealed through the Assessment Review Board (ARB).

REQUIREMENT TO FILE AN ASSESSMENT COMPLAINT: A complaint fee must     accompany the Assessment Review Board Complaint Form.  The complaint fees are as below:

  • Residential 3 or fewer dwellings and farmland - $ 50.00
  • Residential 4 or more dwellings - $ 650.00
  • Non-residential or Commercial - $ 650.00

DEADLINE TO FILE YOUR COMPLAINT: The complaint must be filed on or before August 20, 2024.  Complaints received after this date will not be eligible for an ARB hearing. 

PROPERTY TAX DEADLINE: Payment deadline for the 2024 property tax is October 1, 2024.  Any payment received after this date will be subject to an 8% penalty.
