Due to Alberta's public state of health emergency, the County of Vermilion River Community Peace Officers now have the authority to enforce the Chief Medical Officer of Health's Orders through the Public Health Act. Please monitor the Government of Alberta's website for current COVID-19 orders and legislation at https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-orders-and-legislation.aspx.

Enforcement If you violate a public health order, you may be subject to a $1,000 fine. Additionally, you can be prosecuted for up to $100,000 for a first offence.
If you are concerned someone is not following public health orders, you can:
Complaints that require an immediate response can also be reported to the RCMP through their administrative phone line. *Please do not call the County of Vermilion River Office to report violations of public health orders. |

COMMUNITY PEACE OFFICER PROGRAM
Peace Officers are responsible for enforcing Provincial Legislations and Regulations as well as investigating, and, if necessary, enforcing County Bylaws.
The County of Vermilion River Enforcement Services Program has been authorized by the Justice and Solicitor General. Peace Officers must abide by the procedures as listed in the Alberta Peace Officer Act
The County of Vermilion River also employs a dog control officer on a contract basis. The dog control officer is responsible for monitoring and investigating dog complaints from County residents, as well as enforcing action, if necessary, in accordance with the Dog Control Bylaw.
