2010 Municipal Election
On Monday, October 18, 2010 County of Vermilion River residents will be voting at the polls to elect Councillors to represent their division for the next three year term.  The County is divided into seven electoral divisions; each represented by a Councillor.  The Reeve, the head of Council, is selected by the Council at the Organizational meeting held each October.

Nomination Day:

 Monday, September 20, 2010
Nomination papers must be filed at the County Office between the hours of
9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Alberta Municipal Affairs provides exceptional support for potential candidates.  Two publications containing a wealth of valuable information are "Running for Municipal Office in Alberta - A Candidate's Guide" and "Municipal Councillors Guidelines for Conflict of Interest".  The ministry has also created a website for interested citizens and potential candidates with a variety of information on the nomination requirements, election process and many interesting links.  Visit the website at www.elections2010.info.  Alberta Municipal Affairs is also offering several interactive sessions for prospective candidates and their agents throughout the province.  Click here for  information on these sessions.
